Behind the scenes at Hospital Ried: Lab automation in action
Samples rarely arrive at a hospital lab at a steady pace. When many arrive at once, the workload quickly builds up. At Barmherzige Schwestern Hospital Ried, in Austria, ATRAS and CSpin automate sample sorting and centrifugation. We visited the team to see what that means in practice.
Head of Laboratory Medicine Dr. Karl Schrattbauer and Medical Laboratory Manager Roland Emminger explain why they chose ATRAS and CSpin and how their working day has changed since. With less manual handling and less time spent walking between workstations, there’s more time for other tasks. That makes a difference on busy days, especially when staffing is tight.
A big thank you to the team in Ried for welcoming us into the lab and sharing their experiences so openly!
